Miss Universe Has A Network Home/ Miss America Doesn't

in two pageant related stories

1) Miss Universe has recently signed a deal with nbc that will keep airing the pageant thru 2010
2) cmt which has aired Miss America for the last two years has said it wont be doing it again in 2008

what does this all mean? it means that while you might not be able to watch one hot chick from each of the 50 states pageant around on stage next year - you are guaranteed to be able to see one hot chick from numerous countries do so at least thru 2010.

oh yeah! what about Miss USA? i'm not sure what their tv contract is, but i'm pretty sure they will be back next year, so you will ba able to get your 50 state chick fix no matter what happens to Miss America. all i have to say to that is phewwwww! i can sleep well tonight.

Silverman Show Is Funny

is anyone enjoying The Sarah Silverman Program on comedy central (the comedy network here in canada) as much as i am? i have caught about 4 episodes so far and it is really funny. i have been a fan of hers for awhile, and the show does a great job of capturing her humor, attitude and shtick (the opening slide shows, the poo song, the lesbian episode, her gay friends and TAB, etc...). if you are a fan of hers you should be watching the show(and you probably are), and if you aren't sure if you are a fan of hers then you should definitely check it out and find out if you are.

ok i gotta go watch the one waiting for me on my DVR

ABC's 'Dream' Is A Nightmare

The Great American Dream Vote is on hiatus. if you are saying 'hey! didn't that show just premier like a week ago?' you would be right. it aired twice, got craptastic ratings and has been put on hiatus(probably never to return). i still have the first episode on my DVR. didn't have a chance to get to it yet and already it is gone. the question now is: do i watch it or not bother and just erase it. knowing me, i'm probably going to watch it anyways. the other question is: what happens to all those people with dreams?

next week abc will fill the time slot with an hour of George Lopez. it's kinda funny how the George Lopez show has become the filler for abc when they get rid of shows. they used lopez one week to also fill in the spot left behind when they ended The Knights Of Prosperity also.

speaking of The Knights Of Prosperity: that show was really good and i'm still angry at abc for that one. this comes on the heels of them canceling The Nine and Daybreak earlier this season, two other good shows.

Alexander Trying Again

it seems like you can get away with a lot of crap as long as you were once an actor on Seinfeld (well except for going on an angry, racist tirade). no, the crap i'm talking about is all the shows that the ex-Seinfeld stars have been in since their turn in one of the best comedies of all-time (although i kind of enjoyed Watching Ellie).

i say this because jason alexander is back my friends. first there was Bob Patterson (great promos, bad show), then there was Listen Up! and now he has singed on to make a guest star appearance in the pilot episode of a cop comedy on abc - if the show goes to series his part will become recurring.

Punk'd is over (at least that's what they are telling us)

three years ago ashton kutcher Punk'd us all when he told us that he was ending his popular celebrity punking show (it started up about 4 months later). well it is that time again and mtv is saying that this eight season coming up is going to be the last.

while this could be another fake out - i don't think so. and 8 seasons is a nice run. if you don;t want to wait to catch the shows once a week, mtv has decided, for some reason, to air all 8 new episodes back-to-back on april 7th.

all this Punk'd talk has got me remembering the episode of Saturday Night Live where justin timberlake played ashton kutcher and did an hysterical Punk'd skit

if you've never seen it check it out and enjoy.

who will make it to Prison Break season 3?

so, does anyone have any predictions on who will make it to the next season of Prison Break besides burrows, scoffield and his women (those are the three obvious ones).

more so then who will make it to season three is what the hell will season three be about!?

i figure there are really only two main options right?
1) more running?
2) or if they are pardoned/acquitted/proved innocent/etc... then it can be them just living their life in the aftermath of all that happend and trying to lead a normal life

#2 sounds really boring, so i am going to go with #1 and see the show as a The Fugitive type show where he was always on the run from the law while hunting down the one-armed man.

Dancing With The Stars is not all bad

i watch a lot of television (the purchase of my DVR is one of the best things i have ever done), but i have to say that i have watched maybe 10 minute in total of Dancing With The Stars in their first few seasons. it just never really interested me. however, here i am watching it right now and have been doing so for the last 45 minutes (i've been doing work and other stuff at the same time, but none the less i have been watching it).

all that to say i kind of enjoy it. however, the dancing is the part i enjoy the least. what makes it entertaining to watch is all the pre-dance footage they show of the couples practicing and relating to each other and talking about each other. that's where the producers know what they are doing. they want you to feel connected to these c and b listers, root for them, wonder which couples are fooling around with each other (maybe that's just me), etc...

so i'm not going to be DVRing it or anything, but i might flip it on again at some point in the future.

p.s. i do have to say that bruno is pretty annoying though

p.p.s. just in case you were wondering: don't worry, i record Prison Break and 24.

Thank God You're Here

i don't know much about it besides what i have seen in the little promo commercials and on the nbc website, but the new show Thank God You're Here looks like it is going to be awesome. i love improv (was a huge fan of Whose Line Is It Anyways) - also, like WLIIA, TGYH is based on a premise from another country, in this case australia. i really hope it's funny - i guess we will find out on april 9th.

a My Name Is Earl 'newpeat'

nbc's new thing is the 'newpeat'. basically it's a repeat with some added never-before-seen 'new' footage (remember these are the guys that brought us 'if you haven't seen it then its new to you').

they did it with The Office last week and this week it is Earl's turn. the episode is the one where earl and his brother randy go down to mexico to get catalina who has been deported. it is a great episode which, if you haven't seen it, you definitely should. john leguizamo is hysterical as the town bad ass who models himself off american television - except that he hasn't seen any american tv shows made past the mid-80's. very funny stuff

Survivor right now

i am watching Survivor as we speak and i have two things to say so far (15 minutes in to it)

1: they just did the old drop-your-buffs-and-let-us-make-new-tribes thing. do you think they decide to do this at the beginning of the season, or after watching the tribes and seeing how it goes they then decide what could mess with people and throw off strategies the best? it was cool and a big twist the first time they did it, but now it is becoming a little to commonplace every season.

2: the one good thing that came out of it was it made lisi say something to the effect that she was hoping to go home and would have been happy had that been the case - her happy little world was thrown off kilter and she reacted without thinking. it was great! when will people learn to think before they speak on that show?

45 minutes later... speaking of keeping their big mouth shut: rocky was doing such a good job of that for the first few days and now.... not so much

Who was she and why was she crying?

so, i was watching American Idol last night and there was that girl crying throughout basically the whole show. at first i thought that she was a relative of one of the contestants, but apparently not. she was just a girl who really likes the show and the singers and was so happy and excited to be there that she was crying.
