Grey's Anatomy Isn't That Good

i just posted some news about the Grey's Anatomy spin off and it got me to thinking about the show in general: how it used to be a solid guilty pleasure, but lately the holes and flaws have been showing through.

- since grey and mcdreamy became official, they have been a lot less interesting (although i will say that they milked the whole will-they-or-wont-they thing long enough)

- i felt that the show really dropped the ball during that three-part meredith-almost-dying sweeps episode. the quality of the writing on the third part was laughable. they had a real opportunity to use her near-death-meet-other-dead-people experience to say something interesting about life, herself, and/or other characters, and all they did was have her realize that life is too short, blah, blah blah. you know, that is an important thing to realize, but it just felt so stale and cliche and it wasn't interesting or original or done with any depth (watch the first 2-4 episodes of the last season of The Sopranos to see what great writing does with a lying-in-the-hospital-almost-died situation)

- i still don't understand the christina and dr. burke relationship and have never really felt any true chemistry between them or seen any notion of why he likes her so much with how angry and distant she is much of the time.

- angry and annoying izzy. with that constant scowl on her face she is like a blond yang these days.

- callie rocks so at least that's something

- i also like addison but she is leaving

i used to give the show credit for being better then just a guilty pleasure. i thought there were some fun/interesting storylines and i enjoyed the characters and their dynamics and relationships, etc.... that is less the case now, however, as the writers seem to be taking them in reverse - that they all seem to be de-expanding into one-dimensional characters as opposed to expanding and growing into multi-faceted characters the more we get to know them.

Grey's Anatomy Spinoff News

we have been talking about the possible/probable Grey's Anatomy spinoff for a while now on various episodes of the Watch It podcast(specifically Episodes 31 and 32). well i have some more news for ya.

we had discussed casting info and when the two-hour long Grey's episode would air (in may), but now there are some details about the story outline for how kate walsh's character addison montgomery will make the transition to her own show.

check it out for yourself right here.

so i guess this means that her and intern alex won't be hooking-up? unless it's just to say good-bye(if ya know what i mean, nudge, nudge, wink, wink)
